A new hovercraft operation set to launch on Lake Pukaki promises a unique tourism experience not seen before in New Zealand.
When H2Explore launches early next year it will be the only commercial hovercraft operating in the country. It will also be the first tourist attraction to operate on idyllic Lake Pukaki. The locally owned business promises to significantly boost visitors to the Mackenzie and has been welcomed as a much needed tourism injection for the district.
"It's such a revitalising escape hatch from the metropolitan melee, just three hours drive from the Garden City. For Christchurch residents, it's an easy-to-reach destination for weekend retreats, unlike the longer treks to Wanaka and Queenstown."
"Come spring, Lake Pukaki will become home to New Zealand's only commercial hovercraft operation. The exciting new tourism venture will offer cyclists a riveting way to start their Alps2Ocean cycle trip and while also operating sightseeing trips up to the Tasman River, under the majestic gaze of Aoraki/Mt Cook."
